The Mariners Men’s and Women’s teams both played away games with the Women bringing a win home from Newcastle along with the F3 Derby Trophy, while the Men suffered a loss in the West.

The Women’s match was played first with kick-off delayed by two hours due to the extreme heatwave conditions.

Newcastle started strongly, keeping Mariner’s goalkeeper Annalee Grove busy.  Grove made some excellent saves to keep the score at 0-0.

The Mariners had their own chances, but it was Newcastle who would go into half-time with a lead, scoring in the 2nd minute of extra time.

The second half started well for the Mariners, and it only took 8 minutes before the score was level.  Prakash laid the ball off to Peta Trimis whose shot from just outside the penalty box looped over the Newcastle goalkeeper.

The Mariners second goal would come in the 70th minute.  Trimis was again involved, placing a neat cross in the direction of Annalise Rasmussen.  Rasmussen was able to get her left foot to the cross, deflecting the ball into the net and making the final score 2-1 to the Mariners.

The Men were visiting Perth with hopes of repeating the win that they earned earlier in the season.  Unfortunately, a win would not be repeated, losing 3-0.

Goals to Perth in the 24th, 45th+1 and 54th minutes earned all three points for the home side.

Statistics for the match would tell the tale with the Mariners having 11 shots but none on target, compared to 22 shots for the home side with 9 on target.

The next matches for the Mariners side are both home matches at polytec stadium.
