Central Coast Mariner's Women unfortunately lost their first match of the season at home to Western United this evening.
The game was one where both sides had many chances in the first half and early in the second.
The deadlock was broken in the 57th minute by Western United's Kahli Johnson. Johnson was on the receiving end of a beatiful cross from out wide by Kiara De Domizio.
Johnson did not waste any time getting her second three minutes later. A lobbed pass put the ball over the head of two Mariners defenders and at Johnson's feet, who had no trouble rounding Mariners goalkeeper Langman and scoring into an empty net.
Maher took Western's lead to 3-0 in the 87th minute, converting directly from a free kick out near the sideline.
Mariners forward Annalise Rasmussen pulled one back in the 89th minute but that was where the scoring would end.
The next Ninja A-League Women's match for the Mariners is on Friday evening, 27th December in Perth. The match against the Perth Glory women is scheduled for kick-off at 8pm (AEDT).
