The Mariners Women played away for this weekend's game against Western Sydney Wanderers at Wanderers Football Park on Friday evening, losing by a score of 0-3.

The Mariners started well and had several early chances to Rola Badawiya and Annalise Rassmussen that unfortunately did not result in goals.  The best of these opportunities was in the 25th minute for Badawiya where she beat two defenders to shoot, only for the Wanderer's goalkeeper to make an excellent save.

The Mariners had another great opportunity in the 29th minute when Paige Hayward made a run down the left and put an excellent cross in at the top of the 6 yard box, narrowly going past both Radamiya and Russmussen.

At the same time, the Wanderers had some chances as well.  Excellent defending by the Mariners backline and goalkeeper Casey Dumont kept the home side scoreless.

The game was headed towards a 0-0 scoreline for half-time but the home side had other ideas in the first minute of extra time.  A cross from the right found two Wanderers players unmarked with Wanderer's forward Harding converting from close range.

Score was 1-0 to the home side at half-time.

The score was to go to 2-0 for the home side in the 54th minute when a looping cross from the right went over the hands of Mariners goalkeeper Dumont, hitting an unaware Taren King and going in for an own goal.

The Mariners had a chance in the 67th minute when awarded a free kick in front of goal and just outside the penalty box.  The free kick was taken by Bianca Galic and was headed for a goal just inside the left-hand upright but was well saved by the Wanderers goalkeeper.

The Wanderers would get a 3rd goal in the 69th minute, again to Wanderers Striker Harding.

The Wanderers continued to pressure and if not for an excellent save by the Mariners goalkeeper Dumont, Wanderers would have had a fourth goal and a hat-trick for Harding.

The Mariners Women's next game is at home on Friday, 15th December against Melbourne City with kick-off at 7pm.
