The Central Coast Mariners Official Supporters Club (CCMOS) wishes to highlight the effects of the proposed rezoning and redevelopment around Central Coast Stadium (now known commercially as Industree Group Stadium).
The proposed redevelopment by Central Coast Council includes:
- the closure of the bowling club to make way for a 94 room hotel
- the redevelopment of the western warm-up field area to make way for Training/Community Facilities and a 200 place car park
The most concerning aspect of this redevelopment is the loss of the Gosford City Bowling Club (GCBC) that provides essential community facilities and programs such as:
- Home location for Central Coast Vision bowlers
- Free tuition for groups of people with special needs such as Coastlink
- Traditional lawn bowls programs, catering for bowlers of all of abilities (beginners to the experienced)
- Learn to bowl programs
- Hosting of local high school group who do bowling for sport
- Many local community groups, businesses and families who participate in barefoot bowls
As a result, the bowling club provides important programs to the community that would be greatly missed if the redevelopment of a hotel is approved.
CCMOSC calls all members of the community (not only our members and Mariners fans) to speak up and raise their objection to the closure and redevelopment of the land that is currently used by the bowling club.
