Tonight the Central Mariners took on Perth Glory in Perth and came away with all three points due to a wonderful first half performance and a dogged second half defensive effort.

The Mariners almost took the lead in the 8th minute through another long range shot from Milan Duric that hit the left-hand upright and unfortunately Danny De Silva could not control the ball to score.

Danny made up for not converting that opportunity by scoring in the 17th minute from outside the penalty box after a wonderful cut back pass from Jack Clisby.

Perth equalised in the 32nd minute after Mark Birighitti made an excellent save that Ivan Franjic collected the ball and scored from close range.

In the 45th minute, Sam Silvera made well of an opportunity where he picked the pocket of a Perth defender by taking the ball from him and then surged into the penalty box to score through the legs of another defender from an acute angle.

The Mariners went into the half-time break deservedly being in front and although Perth could be described as having dominated the second half, they could not penetrate the Mariners defence.

Final score was 2-1 to the Mariners.
